Published in the 400 Edition Lava Hair Studio has returned home to Dawsonville after an inspiring and busy month. Along with Lava’s ongoing weekly in-salon education, monthly out-of-salon education, and AVEDA advanced classes, we found time to experience even more. March 1-3, Lava was in Chicago for the Midwest Beauty Show, the largest in America. The show was full of amazing artists with inspirational techniques—international talent such as Nick Arrojo from TLC’s What Not To Wear; Angus Mitchell (son of the co-founder of Paul Mitchell Systems); and the man bringing fashion back to the hair design industry, Robert Cromeans. The show held over 2,000 distributors and double that number of hair designers. From the Runway in Chicago, the spring trends consist of warm, rich colors of fall still apparent in golden blondes and chocolate brunettes. Hair design involves “luxurious texture” or texture with added softness around the face to create a fresh look. Contrary to popular belief, fashion and function do not need to stand alone. Their union can be classic, seamless, and never boring.

After flying home from Chicago, and being back home for only a week, Lava braved the tornado damage in downtown Atlanta to attend AVEDA UNPLUGGED. This event is a more hands-on educational and motivational environment than a large hair show. Only 700 seats were available and Lava was so fortunate to occupy seven of them. The event consisted of two days of runways and hands-on advance classes. The team attended education with DJ Freed (Aveda National Educator Creative Color), William Edge (Creative Razor Techniques), Tristan Morrison (AVEDA Toronto, AVEDA Global Educator), and Van Michael team (Avant Garde stylist of the year, International Artist). Dimensional color for fine hair that creates an illusion of volume, imaginative color techniques inspired by nature, and the hottest precision cuts in hair design are just a few of the techniques brought home by our designers. Please join us to experience the newest trends and creative techniques available with all of our designers.
